[Solved] Creating Excel sheet

0
Topic starter

Hi, we are preparing PoC with the customer for following solution:

- the object Order contain many (1 to N) Order Items; the Order object (OT) contain multi-value property Order Items which contain list of items connected with each order

- the Excel sheet is created in the workflow state Generate Order

- the Excel sheet is created from some Excel template and contain Header, Items and Footer section

- the Excel sheet should contain line-by-line information from items specified in the Order Items property, each value from Item in the separate cell of the line

Can EK Excel Writer create/insert variable number of lines in Excel (depending on number of Order Items) to Items section of the template and fill cells in each line with appropriate values from properties of Order Items? (like Product Nr, Product Name, Price, etc.)

Is it possible to process hundreds (500+) items in the multi-value property and create up to hundreds lines in Excel?

Thank you, Petr

Hi @petrk,

At the moment, Excel writer doesn't have option to insert tables or a variable number of rows directly into Excel sheets. It is planned to be supported in a future update.

In the meantime, for your specific use case, we recommend using the Reporting module as an alternative solution. This module allows you to export data into an existing table within M-Files, which can be managed and manipulated according to your needs.

I’ve attached a screenshot below as an example of how a rule can be configured in the Reporting module.

If you’re interested in learning more about the Reporting module and how it can be used in similar scenarios, please refer to this documentation: https://toolkitformfiles.unitfly.com/documentation/reporting-use-cases /"> https://toolkitformfiles.unitfly.com/documentation/reporting-use-cases/

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or if there’s anything else we can help you with.
